Good shit.
When you start adding generic versions for all types, you probably want to distinguish between void methods (Action) and those with results (Func), e.g. by using the name OnAction and OnFunc instead of just "On"

it's easy to tell people what to do and people will come up with the way you should do things (even though they have no clue and are lazy). i agree, if you think you can do something better, then shut up and do it so we can all move forward. other than that, it's just idle chat with no value except to irritate others

i admire your forward move and gracious insight to OpenSim

good luck with your new endeavors and thank you for adding to OpenSim =)

Second Life is like AOL and therefore it will die.

Facebook is like AOL and therefore it will die.

Twitter is like AOL and therefore it will die.

There are two problems with these arguments:

1) AOL didn't die. AOL.com is one of the top portal websites on the web. AOL just changed, just like SL is changing. SL is like RIM/Blackberry. All the Tech Pundits are fawning over the Apple iPhone, while RIM/Blackberry still has the largest market share.

2) Reasoning by analogy isn't proof. It's a logical fallacy borne of wishful thinking.

Today there's an SL Classified ad for an inworld business named "SEMOTION." They paid L$ 252,526 for that ad (for one week). That's about $950 US dollars for a one-week ad. Do the math. SL isn't dead yet. Not by a long shot.

@Dirk - It is still my hope to do so, but right now family is prio one.
@randomhuman - we actually have done both approaches - in Tribal One I believe we started up the region and went thru with the teleport once it was up, and in PIM we had a pool of started regions that got assigned and re-loaded on demand.
@Zonja - I will probably build on this post and re-submit it. More to come...
@Ener - Namaste, and thank you for your kind words. Good luck on Reaction Grid!

I had been planning to try something like the on-demand regions as well, but with regions being started from a website (a la Google Lively). Did your implementation have these regions always visible on the map, but only started by somebody TPing to them? Did it introduce the concept of a "sleeping" region or something?
